A Local Sense of Place
From reading Kemp's article I learned so much about place-based curriculum. I learned that much of place-based learning is "personalized" and "localized". I also apply this to what local means to me. Local is a location that is near where you live. It is a place that has some personal meaning or significance to you or the community at large.
I am interested in teaching early childhood so for the weblog experience I do not need a topic that is too in depth or difficult. A local opportunity for a place-based curriculum would be the Cleveland Metro Park Zoo. It would provide young students with an opportunity to see animals from different places and the habitat the zoo must create to provide them with their needs to survive.
