Web2 application 1: Quizlet
Quizlet allows users to make flashcards either for personal use or allows users to upload flashcards as a group to compile more. Once the flashcards are created there are seven different ways to view them so the user can study in the manner they like. This application will contrubute to the goals of the class for learning all the different people, places, or murder details presented on the test. The tests all include an identification section where the student is asked to identift 10 out of 15 choices of persons, events, or places. Quizlet will help students learn such things in a good manner.
Web2 application 2: Bussy Lissy
Bussy Lissy is a simple project management tool. All the messages, texts, and files are kept in one place. The class could create a group and upload their notes through this application like the girl I interviewed requested. This application would be a very simple way to share the notes taken in class and discuss any questions students have.
Web2 application 3: Engrade
Engrade would serve as an application where students would be able to log in and view all their grades for the course, something a student requested.
Web2 application 4: Picturepush
Picturepush is an application for uploading pictures and movies files to share with others. This would contribute to the class goals and website because students have to view different movies on Jack the Ripper that are not able to be rented at most movie rental stores. If the movie was able to be uploaded onto this website, students could log in and view the videos needed for papers.
Web2 application 5: Neat Chat
Neat Chat would serve as a forum for students. If any of them had questions or needed help in anything, they could log in and post their question and have another student answer it instead of emailing the professor.
I feel like these 5 applications will help contribute to successfully fulfulling the class goals and make the website helpful to the students in the class

delay in production
video interviews coming soon for weblog 3!
so, i lied. I don't know how to upload recorded videos to my blog so I'll summarize what the three students I interviewed from my Crime and Victorian Vice class would like to have for an ideal course website.
The first student said she would like to have a place where students would be able to add notes they have taken in class. The way the professor presents notes to the class is through 175 power point slides of different pictures-no words besides a title. From class lectures students must write down what they think is needed. She suggested maybe a forum or if there is an web 2 application that uploaded notes as documents so students can see any details they may have missed.
The second student I interviewed wanted a detailed calendar with all the due dates and tests because they are not mentioned in our syllabus, the students have to find out when tests are by attending class. He thinks having an outlined schedule is a better way to organize the class. He also suggested a grade book.
The final student I interviewed, if possible, wanted the movies we have to watch for class uploaded online. The legality of this is questionable, but the movies we have to watch are ancient and not available at your local video store. Considering I can't even upload videos from my computer onto a blog, uploading movies to the class website is probably not going to be able to happen.

Application Overload
The skills I possess for computers allows me to get by in all my classes. I can do all the basic things and a little black magic, like on paint when I helped show the class how to save their wordle with the extra stuff floating around magically disappearing, but that's it. I don't go crazy with adding a lot of application on my iPod touch like a lot of friends, I have no need for it. I feel as though a lot of the applications are just fluff and pointless. I think the range of Web 2.0 applications integrated into a professor's course web site is minimal. I had a professor last semester whose website was out of control. She had so many links leading students left, right, upside down, backwards, and even no where. It was literally the most confusing website I have ever been to. She told us on the first day she put together the website to be beneficial to all of us and everything we needed could be found there.. but no one was really sure as to how to actual find the information needed. It would have been a lot less stressful and time consuming if she had just emailed us what we needed or placed it on blackboard. Just because advanced technology exsists, it doesn't have to be utilized in every action of your day. All I need on a professor's course website is their email, a list of assignments, and their office hours.
My goals are to gain what I can from all my classes and to get good grades. I study best by making flashcards and rewriting my notes. If I need to talk to a professor I will email them or visit them during office hours if I have time. If I know students in class who I think will be able to answer my question I'll ask them prior to asking the professor.
